SOMERSWORTH — Maddie DeSantis, of Somersworth, who worked as finance director for Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter’s 2016 re-election campaign, has joined the Lincoln Soldati for Congress campaign.
An Emily’s List-trained Granite Stater with a graduate degree from Harvard Divinity School and a degree in religion from George Washington University, DeSantis spent nearly four years working for the congresswoman in various capacities, including constituent services representative. She will become finance director for Soldati’s campaign.
DeSantis played an integral role in the Democratic congresswoman winning re-election in 2016 in a district that voted for Donald Trump.
“It has been an honor to be part of such an amazing team and to work for the first woman elected to federal office from our beautiful state,” DeSantis said. “But I am so excited for the next chapter – joining my dear friend Lincoln Soldati as we work towards electing another fearless, progressive advocate to the United States Congress. I’ve known Lincoln for nearly 20 years and I am thrilled to join the team because I know him to be a tireless fighter for the vulnerable and disenfranchised. I’m excited about electing a bold progressive with the experience and tenacity to take on the Trump administration, fight for health care for all, champion strong environmental protections and social justice.”
Soldati, of Portsmouth, said “I’m excited that Maddie is joining the campaign. She is intelligent, engaging and dynamic, and has a terrific grasp of the district. I can’t think of anyone better to serve as my finance director.”
DeSantis is also on the board of American Civil Liberties Union-New Hampshire, serves on the Foster’s Daily Democrat editorial advisory board, and has been a Somersworth booster, including having served as chairwoman of the Historic District Commission.
